Default Memorial Day Weekend Night Bite

Had the pleasure of getting out on the water with my buddy JimmyTheGreek on Sunday and Monday nights. Started late both nights in an effort to avoid the holiday weekend mayhem and it paid off. Herring spawn is in full effect and the predators are right behind them. Herring splashing everywhere with hungry fish blowing up on them. For anyone who has never fished the Herring spawn, imagine someone chucking bricks into the water all around you, every 30 seconds, for hours. Both nights we did well with multiple Walleye on stickbaits up to 25" and FAT bellies full of Herring. Highlight was a nice hectic double header of Walleye. Mixed in a few Hybrids as well, including my first fish of the year on a Zara Spook. Constant action until 2:45am, then it died down. All fish measured, photographed and RELEASED to get bigger. Working on 3 hours sleep but will keep playing sleepless zombie fishing game until the spawn is over and the fish are out of the shallows.

gotta love zara spooks, they dance so nice. i like the ones that sit 1/2 in the water not flat on top so it really looks like a injured fish. beauty fish in the pics. just bought the same headlamp as u jimmy works nice 150 lumens. i needa get out there!
