Default Sad Sad News!

I'm sure many here know who this good man was and no doubt some knew him personally. Were it not for him we wouldn't have the Wild trout Stream program as well as many other contributions he made to our state's great fisheries. Rest In Peace Bob, and Thank You!

1939 - 2014 | Obituary | Condolences

Robert H. Soldwedel, 74, of Nazareth, Pa., formerly of Flemington, N.J., died on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center St., Nazareth, Pa. 18064. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
Born on July 25, 1939, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Herman and the Stella (Hingste) Soldwedel.
He worked for 37 years with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, retiring as bureau chief of freshwater fisheries in 2001.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army in the 1960s.
He is survived by his cousins, Harry A Soldwedel of Bath, Pa., and Kathryn A. Vaneverdingen of Phoenix, Ariz., and step-brother Ronald Christie of New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.

Sorry to hear , had the pleasure of taking a group fishing from this facility early last summer & Bob had a great day out fishing most in the group!
He did more than most realize for NJ fisheries & will be missed at this years outing.

That's great Capt. Lou! I didn't know Bob personally, but did get a chance to meet and speak with him both online at the old njtrout board and in person at the various fisheries forums and trout meetings.

A good man and very sad to hear... 74 is too young
