Ill Bite! and would take that survey. Been catching herring for 50 years, both for pickling and live bait. History is one thing, but with a moratorium last year, NOAA is not going to get a recent timely update since no one fished for them. Tell them to ask the ACE when they fill in the pipe in Asbury at the Deal Lake flume...hope not! We used to bring extra nets because we broke them trying to lift so many herring up from the wall underneath. So many places I used to catch them are gone and not from over fishing , but because of over development and pollution. I lived on a lagoon on Silver Bay and remember laying on the dock with a crab net along the bulkhead and could catch them easily. The good ole days!

Dear NOAA,

You let the trawlers snatch them up with the sea herring. Until you ban them, the river herring population will suck.
