Sure hope the NE council prevails on this one. Our waters are infested with those rats of the sea and they are competing with and eating our more desired species.

In my eyes the only limit on those bastiches is how many you throw back in the water that are still alive: catch,kill,release...

We do have a big issue with them in our waters... You hook one and there's another 3 following it up.... Same thing with Stripers this past fall... You'd reel one in and there would be doggies following it up.

Find the biggest commercial boat and the limit would be 1
Dogfish less then it takes to sink the boat! And do it every day !

My 2 cents

they are becoming table fare, so why not start harvesting them more commercially! while i don't actually practice "helping them to get to the bottom faster", I do bust out the spines so they don't have a chance to spike me or anyone else! the smooth dogfish do just fine with no spines!

A sharp but not overly hard rap on the noggin and the released ones will be chasing their tales literally .

Works every time.

If you take off the spikes right away, they are pretty good eating. Almost like catfish meat.
