Default Home from upstate NY :-(

Welp, this is one of those 'truth in reporting' threads. We all know that steelhead, browns and salmon run in waves and schools. I picked the wrong week, as has been my luck the last few weeks with everything. I arrived in a lake effect blizzard on turkey day, fished Fri morn and afternoon, got a tip from a local on a trib that I ran the entire length of on Sat. Then, went to the Altmar bridge in the afternoon. Nada touch. Others next to me talked about 6 hours plus in the water without a touch. At least I know it wasn't just me.

Beautiful scenery, ridiculously cold temps (single digits every morning), but it was a nice trip. I have a friend who lives in Adams and took him 5# of striper and cooked it with orzo and string beans as a thank you along with a bottle of local Pinot Grigio.

Maybe I'll try again in spring for the leftover steelies. I have some good spots for next year and thanks to everyone who offered advice. Other than one epic Monger trip, this just hasn't been my year.

Nothing to be ashamed about my man!!!! Not everyone is bailing fish!
The Truthful Report is just as important as the other ones. I post them occasionally as well! NOBODY catches fish EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!
Not even the PRO'S on the site, when they don't catch they don't post. LOL!
I always look at those kind of trips as RECON MISSIONS and hopefully gain some kind of knowledge from those trips to help me in the future!
So hope you enjoyed yourself which is the most important thing and gained some knowledge for next time!!!

Weather in that area is like nothing I've ever experienced. I won't be back until April, too far for questionable conditions.

Yep... I deal with the upstate NY state weather 24/7... It wears you down, and can get very depressing.. Mid winter we sometimes don't see the sun for weeks at a time... I rue the day I sold my house in Forked River... bob
