Default Big Jamaica Offshore Report 12-2-13

12-1 Offshore Sea Bass Report

The Sunday offshore wreck trip was another good one. We caught good numbers of giant sea bass, dinner plate size porgies, jumbo Pollock, some nice cod and a Bonito.

Gerod Allums from Queens Village, NY, had a good catch Saturday and decided to go back out Sunday. I asked him why he changed his rail position from the port side to the starboard side after he had such a good day Saturday. His reply was, "that is the spot he wanted Saturday", the same spot Terry Booker caught the 1st and 2nd place pool winning cod.

Gerod figured he would have, at least, caught one of them. He was having another good trip Sunday, but his strategy really paid off with just 10 minutes of fishing time left, when he nailed the 1st place winner, a 32lb pollock.
2nd place was:
Ba Nguyen with a 22nd cod.
Radford Royal from Ft Washington MY landed a 25LB pollock.

There were also another 15 cod boated and a few more pollock.
Everyone had coolers full of sea bass and porgies.

We still have space available on trips sailing this week.
Our next trip sails 11PM Tuesday night.

Fishing will only get better as the water temperature drops and more sea bass begin to migrate to the offshore wrecks.
The season closes January 1 so December is the last chance for giant sea bass.
The Jamaica is scheduled to sail at least 4 days every week in December.
