As usual, an awesome trip with Capt. Chad. Started out for seabass, and had fast action. After a few drops, decided to hit a couple of blackfish spots. Get set up, felt the bump, bump, got into my "bird dog" position as Chad called it, wham! Set the hook and knew I had a good one on. Halfway up up, fish decided he wanted to show me he had some muscle, and made a return trip to the bottom. Got him back to the surface, swung him right over and into the basket. Nice roaster, awesome. Dropped back down again, found that small but certain rock pile, wham! After playing C&R while enjoying many laughs, Capt. said lets mix it up a bit. Made a run to the porgy grounds and it was just fast non-stop action, many double headers.
One of the most exciting events was the fact I just recently taught my girlfriend the basics in blackfishing while fishing one of the local canal spots. Today was her first try out in the ocean. While Capt Chad was talking to her, telling her how to wait for the right bump bump, she in turn gets that one bump that we all wait for, and he yells hit em, hit em. She does, and it was so exciting watching that new Fish Poison rod bend the way it's suppose to. Swings a nice roaster over the rail. Made my day.
Overall it was a fantastic day out on the water. Loads of fish, many laughs, especially after I boxed my roaster, only to find my girlfriend in my spot! I think I've told her too much about what happens on the tog boats.
Great boat, great Capt and a special thanks to the mate Chris for the wonderful service he provided.
