![]() 9/20 Canyon Report
The Thursday/Friday Canyon Tuna trip was another good one. We started out catching Mahi-mahi and had good action with them on most stops. Later in the day we started to drift for tuna and tilefish. We did catch one nice tilefish before the tuna schooled under the boat just before sunset. We hooked a few but only landed one before they left. We continued to drift until sunset and then anchored up for the night. It was a quiet night until about 1:30 when 50-70LB yellowfin swarmed under the boat. We landed a couple and lost a few. Later on, they schooled up once again and we had multiple hook-ups and landed several. They came under a few more times and then the longfin moved in. We caught a number of them and lost several. Most were caught on jigs and some on bait. Once the sun rose the fishing slowed down. We landed another tilefish before it was time to head home. We still have space available on the Canyon trip sailing Saturday night at 5PM. There is also space available on other upcoming trips. For information go to www.bigjamaica.com or call 732-528-5014
