Default An hour @ the Passaic - 8/6

4 pike and 3 bass. Great hour right? Nope. Pike topped out at 13"; bass - 6". Oh well they can only get bigger. Plenty of forage in form of fathead minnows which are everywhere. Hoping the heavy rain predicted for tomorrow/tomorrow night will be on the light side or go south or north.

I was just going to start a post with the same title !!! I hit the river tonight for just over an hour. Crazy action with 6 pike landed and 2 pickerel in the same hole. I don't want to even say how many hook ups I missed, but it was more than I landed. Water in this spot was at a great level and clear. With rain expected for tomorrow, I wanted to give this spot a try and it paid off. First pike was the only one picture worthy at just about 34" (which didn't want it's picture taken) and all the rest in the high 20" and close to 30".

Great job getting out and making a few casts. It just as easily could have been a 50" monster !!! You never know.

Forgot to mention all on a #4 gold panther martin which maybe too small for the big boys. Buzzbait drew no attention at all for the first 30-35 minutes. Spinner took all fish in a short time(same area) with 3 pike in three casts.

Maybe a larger inline similar to the PM would entice larger pike. Like a gold bladed blue fox or a bucktail style musky spinner? just a thought...
