Default 7/21-7/22 -- Sweet to salty turnaround trips

Sorry for the delayed report but better late than never!

7/21 Left 4 AM to meet Fish n Jeep to take a whack at the Passaic in GPM. He posted most of it in another thread. Slow day... One pike--nothing to write home about and a suicidal yellow perch who thought it was a good idea to attack my 9/16 spinnerbait. I'm still looking for my double digit pike!!!

Got home around 430-5 PM... cleaned up, packed and hit the road for Montauk. Bluefin tuna on the agenda. Get to the boat at midnight. Crash out...

7/22 Alarm goes off at 3:30 AM, leave the dock at 4 AM. Head 45 miles southwest. Decent fleet out there. Plan to troll a 7 rod spread. Get 2 lines out--BAM! 2 on. Nice way to start a trip. Bite slowed as day went on. Wound up with 9 fish I think. Up to 70-75 lb-ish. Kept our one.

I know this is a freshwater forum but I figured you guys would appreciate it either way. Here's a shot of the kill.

Catch em' up!

You're gonna make me some sashimi for toting your azz across the weedy rocky shallows at the Pompton/Passaic confluence, riiiight?

Hahaha... well, the bright side is that next time we head that way, we know better as to where to splash the ol' claw foot!

I've been forced to learn how to roll sushi the last few years--not a bad thing!

LOL sucks but I know exactly what you're talking about. Last summer I had a Pike put a Spook treble into my middle finger while he was still hooked himself. Got the hook out of him and tried to paddle UPSTREAM through that weedy, rocky, shallow mess with the Spook hanging from my hand. Got frustrated and ended up getting out of the yak and walking it the rest of the way lol.

Nice work on the marathon fishing. Those are the weekends that turn boys into men lol.
