Default Deal Surf Shark!

Well at Phillips Ave today I had a very cool encounter with a medium class shark. It came in during the outgoing tide for about 25 minutes on the north side of the jetty, and then left back into the cool waters of the southeast swell. During those 25 minutes though, it jumped 3 times out of the water chasing snappers along side the Jetty, one time right in front of me. It was very streamline, but I will use my common sense and say it was a Brown Shark.

Any other imput? It was not a ray of any kind! This was a Shark.

as a kid in the early 90s I never saw one or heard of anyone catching one.. but I would read about Browns, dusky's and blacktips in John Geiser's Fishes of the New York Bight. its cool to see large coastal sharks making a big comeback in our home waters. the footage from last summer off island beach state park.. sharks airing out on the bait was so cool ! thanks for the report !
