Default Water Temperature Question

I'm looking at the NOAA Water Temp guide and don't understand the huge difference in Temps between certain locations. Best example is 74 in Sandy Hook, 58 in AC, and back to 76 in Cape May. What could cause such a wide range in temps? Thanks for any insight.

Water out in the ocean is typically colder in the spring then it is in areas around shallow bays and rivers. The sun/temps heats up the shallows faster.

A lot of times the opposite is true in the fall. The bay temps will drop faster then the ocean temps when it starts getting cold.

A lot more water in the ocean to cool down or heat up then there is in bays and rivers.

The sandyhook reading is very inaccurate. If you are fishing sandyhook use the reading for "entrance to ny harbor"

If u are looking at a satellite image it is most likely cloud cover or something else messing up the image if its actuall readings than I wouldn't believe anything out of the 60's along the beach.
