Smile NJF FW Fisherperson of the Year Award:

In loving memory of our past dear Mike Wells aka LAB I thought I would run an NJF FW Fisherperson of the Year Award, much like LAB would run a PUOSU trip. I do miss reading his posts, they always put a smile on my face. I had the pleasure to fish with him a few times, a great person, never a dull moment.
In no way will I be able to duplicate his writing skills, nor his humor, but we’ll just go with it and see what added fun we can have, I know Mike would want it that way.

OUTOFLINE:
Should almost just give this poor guy the award right off the bat. His stocked 8lb. Brown trout he caught went viral on all the New Jersey fishing web sites. POACHER, ASSCLOWN !!! I felt so sorry for the guy, catches a great fish mid winter and got torn to shreds on the other sites.
Spends a lot of time in Fast Eddies back pocket on the big lake. He needs to get his game on to pull it off, spending too much time Alex’s on the Inlet, see what he can do between now and the end of the year.

SHUCKER:
Another land based fisherman. The guy goes through a new set of waders every two years, something to be said about that. I watched him DESTROY Penns Creek out in Pa. last year. I’m still trying to have him cut a tooth on the East and West braches and the Beaverkill. Came out strong with big trout in the early months. He’s been on the Raritan and other areas lately, fishes so much he has to wait till the end of the week to post a “weekly wrap up report”
Only thing that could hurt Shucker from winning it all is the fall bass season. Snag and Drop is gonna keep him off the sweet water in the fall. See how the rest of the year unfolds, a true contender.

LARD ALMIGHTY:
If there were an award for the best narrated Go-Pro fishing videos he would win hands down. He’s been to Candlewood and done an upper Big D float already this year. If he keeps giving us great videos we may have to start a channel just with him on it, watch out Bill Dance. P.S, don’t call him before 9am on his day off.

SAXMATT:
Wowed us with huge Pike early in the year. This guy isn’t afraid to put gas in the car and go. He’ll cover 5 states in search of good ice. I think he hangs his hat at CARP.COM. A great addition to the NJF family. No stranger to double digit freshwater fish. Has one (unofficial) state record under his belt already and showed the other 50 states who has the best carp fishing. Great in the fact he will blind fold you and get you into a river monster yourself, all you have to is ask. See how the rest of the year goes, I’m sure he will be traveling the entire area also.

SKUNK CITY:
Don’t let the name fool you, I think he was out is his kayak in MARCH. Showed us how to catch fish from inserting yourself into a piece of plastic and hitting the water. One of the young guns, full of energy, giving the old timers a run for their money this year. He hasn’t missed a beat yet and if he keeps up this pace, well I just don’t know what to say. It’s the mid way point and I don’t see him slowing down, stays on the sweet water and is unaffected by what is going on down the shore.

CATFISHONTHELAKE:
If we ran this the year he fished 366 days in a row he would have won hands down. He even fished through a hurricane.
He could be the one to beat, watch out he has a BOAT !! Fishes the tri state area in search of big Muskies.
It’s un confirmed but it was alleged he was sneaking into the Hackettstown fish hatchery and making love to the Muskies in there, but you didn’t here it from me. Rumor also has it he had to take out a second mortgage just to buy more Muskie lures. Has many big fish this year and it’s only the mid way point.

FASTEDDIE:
Two Meet and Greets to his name already this year. Ran the ice fishing tourney that spanned the entire winter, then went on to win the PIKE A THON. No water is safe with him around and he has a boat. Doesn’t need to travel far since he can un lock the secret of most home waters. He is looking good at the mid way point and he too is showing no signs of slowing down.

CHAOS STARTER, JIMMY THE GREEK, BUNKER DUNKER, JIGMAN13, UGLY STICK, 15FOOTER. FLATCREEK
Any one of these guys could easily break away from the pack, it’s a tie race here.

Winner will be awarded an NJF tee shirt at the holiday party. Odds will be posted in November and you can vote for whoever you want. If I did not mention your name and you feel over looked, by all means post away, it’s anyone’s game for the big prize !
REMEMBER this is all just for fun, feel free to add you comments.

A wealth or knowledge, a wealth or stories... this equates to a great forum. All top-notch stuff here--and an added element of respect and decency. All those mentioned and some, are more than worthy of such recognition.

Thank you Andy. Good stuff. Some of the best freshwater anglers in Jersey up there as far as I'm concerned. Here's a little love for you. Got this one yesterday. 46-inches of 100% Jersey Girl.

I feel humbled having my name brought up in the discussion. To be honest, though, there are others on the forum who go after those fish a lot harder than I do. Saxmatt is singlehandedly putting NJ on the map as a carp fishing mecca, catfishonthelake is catching all the big toothy critters within 500 miles, and Fasteddie has been cleaning up on not one, but two rivers all year.
