Default walleyes + wipers

got out last nite for a few hours with my cousin Jimmy. He actually took me fishing as a kid and got me into this sickness that most of us have haha. Was like old times, although I dont remember such nice rods/reels and boats in those days

Fish were everywhere pounding on bait, was crazy out there. We had 30-40 swipes and missed on topwater, same problem as last week. Luckily we landed a few, with 5 fish between us. We both lost big wipers boatside that were barely hooked, they are not commiting lately on topwater lures. Cousin Jimmy got a nice 25" eyeball that was around 5 lbs. and a PB for him. Great nite on the water, Tshirts and 70s air temps all nite!!

Looks like last night was a good night! Sweet fish! We had the same problem with a couple of fish that wouldn't commit at Spruce. It was frustrating as hell. Wish we knew how to fish Hopatcong I cant figure that lake out for the life of me!

I used to hate LH when I was younger, could never catch anything. U gotta either put ur time in and learn the lake which is tuff cause its huge, or u gotta have someone show u the ropes and the basics and learn from there. Once u figure it out its an amazing fishery, from bluegills to giant muskies you can target anything you want, and the hybrid population is huge, theyre everywhere.

u can get them during the day on herring once u find the schools but they are smaller fish w the occasional nice one. The bigger boys 5lb+ are feeding solely at nite and just cruise during the day. Theres ALOT of boat traffic on LH now so early morning like sunrise til like 9 or 10 is the only daytime i will do. As of late they are in the bays in about 25 FOW roaming around in small schools following bait balls. Find them and stay put and every few min u will have them come thru and jump on your baits. Usually 1-3 feet off the bottom. They are relating to the bottom, not any particular structure and occasionally will be up in the column usually on main lake points, but then u gotta dodge the 30 footers lol
