Default San Diego Fishing Recommendation

I will be in San Diego the first week of June for a Trade Show and I have a free day (a Saturday).

I want to hit a local headboat and fish on my free day.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I have no interest in bringing any fish home, just want some action.

Please don't tell me about awesome 14 day long range trips .

Thanks

Try Seaforth in Mission Bay . Plenty of free parking . They should have 1/2 Day and 3/4 Day trips . La Jolla should have Bonito/ Baracuda/Calico Bass by then . 3/4 Islands is also a good bet .

Like Pedro said, 3/4 day is your best bet. Run down to mexican waters and/or out to the islands. I've fished out of H&M or Point Loma with good success. They'll rent you a decent rod/reel at the dock. Unlike here, you pay for the trip before getting on the boat at the dock, then everyone lines up and gets on at the same time. You'll be paying for the trip and mexican fishing lic. Only thing you pay for on the boat is any food/drinks you eat.
If you google SD fishing you'll see actual fish counts to get an idea of what they're catching.
You'll be using live anchoves or sardees, change your bait often! Especially when you go to the islands. And you thought dogfish were bad here, wait till you have to deal with Sealions!! Lol...
I'll be going out there next weekend... most likely fishing out of H&M. The woman mate is BADA**!!!

The only problem that I have is the parking for the San Diego Bay landings . I cut my teeth fishing Seaforth 1/2 day and 3/4 day Islands trips . Caught my first Longfin on the New Seaforth (first Tuna Trip) and my first Yellowtail on the Seaforth(1/2 day) . Did most of my Overnighters/Islands/LR out of San Diego Bay . It' s different world out there .

Hi John
Good luck it should be fun. go on the 1/2 day out of Point Luma. heads up the rental equipment is not that great if you can take your own reel that will work much better for you.
Good luck

Thanks guys. I will start with this list.

Parking won't be an issue since I won't have a car. I will pack my Saltist 30.

I will post a report when I get back.
