Default No trout, but some fizz...

Broke out the fly rod last night for the first time this year. Hit the damn on the 'po and didn't catch a trout, but I did manage 3 sunfish, two of which were decent size. I did see one eye up the fly and swipe at it which was pretty cool. I varied up my retrieve quite a bit and found a productive one. I also almost enticed a LMB, but he was shy to commit and only half opened his mouth. Was pretty neat to sight-fish a little. My cast drastically improved over time and by the end of the night i was throwing 50+ feet with a smaller dry fly.

Any tips on a favorite fly that has been producing over the last few days? Thanks!

I can't wade into water at the reservoir I fish so I can't use a fly rod (not enough space). What I did was using a ultra light 6'6" rod with 4 lb mono and tied a salt water fly (Clouser Deep Minnow). I was catching some big Crappies as well as caught 3.5 lb LM. However, a large SM (looked like around 3.5 lb) broke the line - but it sure was fun fighting a large SM with 4 lb line.
