Default Washington Valley Fishing

Took the kids and the dog for a hike at Washington Valley off 22 this afternoon.

This was strictly a get out of the house, let the dog swim, and get a few casts in when I had the chance. Never fished this pond so didn't know what to expect.

We hiked completely around the pond and I had lots of smaller bass (up to ~ 1lb), crappie, and a few bluegills. Last cast near the end of the trail gave me the best bass @ ~ 2lbs. Saw a couple of good ones cruising the shallows, but my continental army was marching too fast to really fish seriously.

I caught a few fish, the dog swam, and we got some exercise at a really nice spot. May be a do over when I have some alone time!

When I lived in Green Brook I used to fish there quite a bit. Right now is the best time to go before the entire place gets choked up with weeds. There are some huge bass in there and some enormous sunfish. I have always wondered how deep it gets near the dam closer to Route 22. Also, if you follow the stream after the dam and cross the street there is a huge pool where a few LMB have washed down- right near the waterfall.

Yeah the weeds are starting to grow and the fish were moving toward their beds when I was there. While access is shore limited and even limited at that to wading through the tick infected grass, really looks like a fish-able spot. Being so close to home I will have to go back and give it a try or at least swim the dog
