Default 4/1 Hudson River...

Hi All,

Just wanted to report on my day at the lower Hudson. Water temps were 42-43F, and rain held off in the morning. Bloodworms from shore netted me a monster! It was glorious,!!!!

Ohh Noes!!!!!

I thought it was a stiper, but it actually looked like a white bass... Basically a white perch with striper stripes.

Oh nice, I live 10 mins. from there. I fish there all the time, hopefully your stripers will grow as the season gets here! Congrats on your 1st one of the season!

Looks more like a White Perch than a Striper...

I thought it was too, but it's a bad picture... You can see the stripes better in person. Now that I think about it... It looks like a white bass more than anything lol.

Aren't hybrids a mix between white bass and a regular striper?

I have caught perch in the past down there, but I didnt think they were perch because the were infantile. They were not "Small" fish, they were not yet developed. They also had 4 or 5 gray stripes, but they weren't darkened yet.

Talking Re: 4/1 Hudson River, and First Striper ever!

That's a white perch, the alpines should be produceing some big white catfish soon. Last spring my freind caught a 44 lb Striper (weighted) and a 11 lb sriper off the shore in the alpines. I went the next day with fresh bunker and all I caught was a 5. Lb white catfish.LOL
I guess sometimes its better to be lucky than good.
Go fiqure.
