![]() I can't get a definitive answer from United, TSA or FAA websites on what exactly you can carry on a plane as far as fishing tackle (travel rods and reels are fine, obviously.) Small pen knives and souvenir baseball bats are ok so what about pencil poppers and hooks that aren't shark size? I'd rather not check my tackle box but I also don't want to be held up at security.
Without a solid answer I think I'll fork out the $$$ rather than risk a hassle. |

![]() In addition to the FED EX suggestion, depending on how much you're taking, you can also ship a flat rate box through USPS pretty cheap.

![]() It's not United, its TSA. I flew to Costa Rica couple of weeks ago, had a reel spooled with line in my carry on, no problems..... Flying back the TSA in Costa Rica made me strip the line off.

![]() WTF? Pen knives and mini baseball bats are ok but not fishing line or hooks? What about my belt? I can tie someone up with that. Whatever.
Shipping isn't really an option so I guess I'll just fork out 25 bucks to check my tackle. At least it's a direct flight. Thanks guys. |

![]() No sharp objects like fillet knives, packages of hooks, lures with hooks. Put a soft tackle bag with this stuff in your suitcase. I almost lost two containers of Gulp because of the liguid content. I refused to give them up because of the cost. Finally they let me pour some of the liquid out into a waste can. I then was allowed to carry them aboard. Now I put the Gulp containers into large zipper freezer bags. Then into my suitcase.

![]() yeah tsa is a bitch. Ship your tackle to wherever your going it is defenetly the best way to go, its cheaper than checking bags and you dont have to go through all that trouble.
