Default Cbass limits bust!!

I guess 15 giant Cbass are not enough for some guys, just read that fishermen coming off a partyboat got busted for keeping too many Cbass, only ONE fisherman was not fined!!! The boat was not busted, the fishermen were. I know that the Voyager (not the boat involved) made it clear that you could face the music if you did not adhere to the limits.

Voyager tells their fares more then once 15 is the limit, mates will not fillet any more then 15 and that you're on your own if you decide to keep more than your limit. To the guys who kept more then there limit, good going your quite the sportsman

These limits suck !! Instead of calling out people, write letters. Some one woke up one morning and came up with the number 15. 25 was a good number if you ask me. Alot of people shyed away this year paying 170 bux for 15 sea bass, party boats got hurt. People were limiting out by 9am, some SHORTAGE of sea bass I guess. Why we sit here and worry about what THE OTHER GUY doing we will never win. Divided we fall. Get on the band wagon, get names, post an address where we can write to, copy and paste the lettter you wrote to NMFS about the SHORTAGE of bass and how screwed up these numbers are.

Completely agree with you Andy. I used to book a trip almost every week during winter sea bass season. With a 15 fish limit, I choose not to go. By the time you pay for the trip, tip, tackle, etc....it's a $250 day. When you catch your limit in the first hour, what do you do after that? Play catch and release and pretend that those fish you just pulled out of 200 ft of water all live when you toss them back? Sit in the cabin for the next 5 hours? Or do you keep pulling and fill the cooler hoping the fish cops don't meet you at the dock?

Lots of people choose the last option. When you know the regulation in place is absurd and based on nothing, I don't blame them. After all, when you post your report you can still put "keeping only my legal limit" as if that statement means something..... If the sea bass stock was truly in trouble, that's a completely different story.

Arat: I am by no means rich. I may do one or two trips per year. 170 bux is alot for some people. Who said 30 fillets. I've seen ripping currents where you could barely hold bottom with 24oz. Then factor in the weather. If I do a few trips I feel like 25 was a good number, besides, unless you have a tool to deflate these fish they just float away anyway. It seemed 25 was good for a long time, why the change, where is the data that says these fish are endangered. I would much rather see people keep 25 5 or 6 lb. seabass than 25 14 inch fish inshore.
