Default Jersey vs Montauk COD?

so I only take one or two cod trips a year and every year its been in new jersey but latley I havent been doing so well with cod. I dont really care for ling and I can catch seabass in the summer so I really just want cod. My question is how has everybody been doing with cod in new jersey? should I take my chances here or spend some more money and go to montauk. Thanks, John.

Better chance of putting together a better catch of cod if you head north
Montauk or Rhode Island. Been catching some decent size cod last week.
If you want to catch all the pollack you want head out on the AC out of Lynn, MA

I agree with Alex, I've seen in some nice reports on NY forums for cod. It doesn't look, like we're going to have a good season here. I'm thinking, myself to jump on a couple trips. Good luck.

gotta be honest...some of these cbass are as big as the cod being caught off the end. I would also say that there are very few if any cbass caught in the summer in any type of numbers that are close to the same size as the ones coming over the rail now. Plus there are cod and pollock hitting on some of the NJ trips.

I will admit I do like to take a ride to New England every year for cod/pollock fishing as they do have a much better fishery out there for those types of fish.

Good luck...meat is so damn tasty!
