![]() Has been many years since I have fished for carp in New Jersey. I remember many years ago fishing in the Fall for carp in the Delaware river. Fished primarily at night and had some very good nights. The good part about the Delaware River were the sizer of the fish we landed. Almost all fish were north of 10 lbs and the biggest we took was in the 40 lb class.
It's been so many years and quite honestly I don't recall how late in the year we fished but pretty sure it was September / October. My question to the carp sharpies is do you think it's too late to fish for carp. My guess would be it's not as I would think the big boys or gals are feeding heavy now to store up reserves for the long winter. Was actually thinking about giving it a shot one day this week, would appreciate anyone's opinions before I end up staying up all night. I will tell you my family and I had some absolute memorable nights with pretty trophy class fish so I'm actually looking forward to giving it a shot again. Again, anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If I end up going, will post a report and hopefully pictures as well. Dakota |

![]() I came across a decent group of 5-10 pounders today while I was fishing. They seemed to be pretty active. Not sure if they were feeding or not though. Wish I had some bait with me, a couple of them looked pretty thick!!

![]() Carp will bite all year. This time of year can be great, the only problem with bottom fishing rivers like the Delaware is dealing with all the leaves in the water. I think other than the early spring bite the fall is the best time to target them.

![]() Thanks for the responses guys. May try giving it a shot this week during the day as opposed to night and see how I make out. Will post pics and a report if I get out.

![]() I caught 3 carp in Carnegie Lake recently. Last year I caught carp in the Millstone River on November 28. You can catch carp all winter long in the warm water discharge of Delaware River power plants.

![]() You don't even need warm weather. I've caught 20+ fish and 30 pounders on days so cold I had to wear my ice armour suit. You can catch them through the ice too but I don't target them because a nice fish won't fit through an 8" hole.
