One of my favorite bass lakes and awesome panfishing early in the season. Best EARLY in the morning then dies down hard after 10:30-11am. Fish any of the structure (theres alot) and weed beds. I've caught fish pretty much everywhere in that lake, so I cant really say any area is best. The state stocks Pike in there as well, but I've never landed one there myself. Been sawed off a few times while bass fishing though. Lots of nice sized yellow perch and crappie there also. Good luck and definetly post back with results (aka pictures of slob bass ).

The bigger the better. Use a leader and you may find a Pike. The state record came out of there a few years back. Was 46" and 31lbs I believe. Lots of pickerel there too. Pick up a few slip bobbers and adjust them to keep the shiners/herring out of the weeds.

Thumbs up Re: pompton lake

loaded with fish. I like to the right of the north ramp. but in the canal there is some great structure. I caught a bunch of pike through the ice...there is a photo called the pompton monster in the archives, but I cant find it.

Lakeside Drive in Pompton Lakes...open 24/7. Good boat ramp, just usually covered in Goose droppings .
