Fish ID?

Friend of mine caught it in a local lake in South Jersey. Is that a crappie? Doesn't look like the crappie I've pulled put of other lakes but that's the only thing I can think of.

Ahh ok thanks. Just seemed less flat or pan fish(y) than all of the other crappie I've caught.

I second... thats a black crappie.... white crappie have vertical lines-spots...
