Re: Anyone Know Them ?
Not a good way to start the day! Thank God, no injuries.

Re: Anyone Know Them ?
I guess this negates that old saying " a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work "

Re: Anyone Know Them ?
On another boating board they said that he hit some jetty rocks in dense fog...but this was second or third hand, so take it for whats it worth.
Shitty even to see that. Hope they get thier or a new vessel up and running as son as possible. |

Re: Anyone Know Them ?
The Jetty has been there for eternity (relatively speaking). I have NEVER boated out of Barnegat Inlet, but know it's there. Like Morgan Creek's wall.
Since it was foggy, should have been running slow anyway. My guess is some small decision, since he likely was well aware of the wall. That's a rookie mistake. And this guy was not a rookie ( assuming he was the one at the wheel). Probably misjudged how far he was out, and hit the autopilot to head off to some grounds before he rounded the approach light at the end of the submerged jetty. A small mistake with big consequences. Luckily everyone was OK- except the boat. Of course no one is talking from the crew. Can you say insurance adjuster. See what passengers knew (if anything). I hope they found out what happened. I will be teaching that at my Boating Safety courses if it's noteworthy.

Re: Anyone Know Them ?
They hit the north jetty. Was in a Point Pleasant paper.
Hopefully this 38' named Southern Comfort was not named after the owner's favorite breakfast drink. LOL Quote:

Re: Anyone Know Them ?
The straight surf line looks like the submerged jetty is in the background too.
Looks like this picture is shot from a USCG boat. Can see the tow bit/gun mount on the bow.
