Default ramapo opener (never disapoints)

Up early, coffee, bagel and off to the river. Got to my spot around 7:00am to find peeps already standing in the river. Enjoyed my breakfast and cigarette and climbed into the water at 7:50.

First cast at 8:00 and first fish at 8:01! had my limit (all released) by 8:20. all on spinners. The spinner bite slowed and it was time for the worms. had 15fish by 8:50. hung around and BS'ed for a little while and headed home.

Back at the river at 4:30 for the PM bite. This time took my son, his second time trout fishing. He had one on before I was in the river (thats my boy)! fished from 4:30 til 6:30 and added 11 more to my total. Jake had 8. Ran into ALS Mako, always nice to see steve.

Will be back at it tomorrow AM before I go to the mother in laws for easter dinner.

Not a bad start to the season

good seeing you as well steve. this year was quality rather than quantity for me. fished the upper musky in the am. water was low and all the stockies were holed up in little areas. i managed about a dozen or so walking the river- but 3 were leftover big breeders stocked last year. only ones i kept- all were orange/pink fleshed. them hit the po in the afternoon after a late lunch of white castle. managed about a dozen more walking the river. highlight/letdown of the day was when a 4 to 5 lb trout (i think he was a rainbow) wrapped me around a submerged branch and broke off. fish was thrashing 3 feet from me...if only i had a net... ah but where's the fun in that. all fish caught on spinners, all fish released, except the 3 breeders.
