Default Long time reader, finally a member

Hi everyone! ive been reading this forum for almost a year now, and finally joined! you guys give great reports and ideas so now hopefully i can contribute to some of these reports ive been taking advantage of.
a little about my self though- i fished with my father until i hit highschool, then had other things on my mind like chasing girls, no more time for fishing! i started remembering the times i had with my father while we fished. they were the best days of my life!
so last year i bought my first boat and tried to remember everything he taught me. between that and this forum i have had great luck.
if anyone wants to get together for some fishing let me know. i usually go out on my own. im thinking of unwinterizing my boat this week. this "winter" has been crazy!

there is a pond or two here but ive never been to them. i do all of my fishing in New Jersey. last season i spent a lot of time at Lake Hopatcong, Round Valley res, Spruce Run res, Monksville Res, Lake Assunpink, Delaware River, Raritan River. theres a lot of places i havnt had the chance to get to yet, but id really like to try and hit the Passiac River for some pike soon!

Welcome aboard! All those places seem a bit of a ride from Staten Island, but well worth it. I'm a regular on Monksville and the Passaic though, maybe we'll run into each other. What do you usually target at Monksville?

it is a bit of a ride, but about a 50-60 minute ride im at anyone of those places. im actually from upstate ny, but live down here now. so i get out as often as i can. an hour ride is nothing when i spend the whole day at a lake.lol.

at Monksville i usually target bass. id like to target some of those musky! i have a little more to read up on before i do that. i read online they said there is walleye there too? but lots of people said that not true?

Monksville has received a TON of Walleye stocking from the state, though catching them has been easier said than done. My buddies and I have put a lot of time into catching them (mostly at night) with only a few fish to show for our efforts. As for Musky, they're definetly in there and thriving. We came across a floating 52" one last September by the standing timber. Thing was an absolute BEAST.

Thumbs up Re: Long time reader, finally a member

Raritan river !!! that's my home water, meet us there in April for shad ( before the State closes shad fishing for good ) and BIG stripers in May, we C&R the stripers in the spring.
Add Merrill Creek Res to your list and if you can carry, drag, or lift a boat, Split Rock Res. is a must !

Welcome to the site.
