![]() Location: JFK Park, Sayreville, NJ
Date: Saturday, June 18, 2011 Time: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM Weather: 80 F, partly cloudy, variable winds Target species: Largemouth bass Rod: Berkeley Lightning Rod LRS662ML Reel: Shimano Sidestab 2500RE Line: Stren 8 lb. mono, clear blue fluorescent Lures: Rebel Pop-R, 3" Slug-go, shad, on size 2 sproat hook; 4" jogger worm, pumpkinseed, on a size 2/0 wide gap hook Started in the small pond, caught lots of really small bass, under 8 inches, with one about 1.5 lbs thrown in. Most of them fell for the Slug-go. Moved over to the big pond and started getting some bigger bass, including the chunky fellow pictured below, and a couple of pickerel. All told about 15 fish, mostly bass. I saw 2-3" sunfish everywhere. Thousands of them! Every so often a bass would come charging in and grab one. Place was loaded with life; lots of frogs, turtles, and ducks. Saw a couple of big carp in the creek running into the big pond. Several people out fishing today, saw a few sunnies caught, and kids having a good time. Nice day to be out.
