Hey guys,
I hit a reservoir up here that's pretty close to me and got a cookie cutter LMB. Was fun to catch something because I went to a side I had only fished once before in a canoe. Was fun to explore, but definitely should have brought a machete. I left my house @ 7, ended up there at 7:30 after getting gas and was about 20 min before I got my bass. At about 8:15PM the lake came alive with bait fish jumping ALL ALONG the shoreline. I have never seen anything like it before. I threw on a pop-r, and nothing, my reliable rap cd3 caught the bass, threw it back on, nothing hit, senkos, nothing hit (though I did have a run off earlier, no hook set, prob sunfish or small bass that didn't get the wacky rig all the way in.)!
So, I witnessed an unbelievable amount of fish-life and I didn't know what to do. It was a shiner blitz, maybe they were herring, I'm not sure, but I couldn't tell if they were feeding, or being fed on, but it was amazing.
If you have any tips on how to catch fish under these conditions, please let me know. It looked exactly as if fish were going after them, but I only saw 2 big big splashes other than the little guys.
Was a good night for the short amount of time I got to spend there.
Left at 9:00PM.
