Default Solid Bass Action on the South Branch

My lady and I were out in a canoe for a couple hours. After striking out in the first hot-spot, I found the fish and had about 8 largemouth in about 40 minutes. I could have had a few more, but we anchored up and tossed some corn and carp bait out after we saw the mud clouds and the bubbles. Got bored of that pretty quick so went back to bass fishing and got a few more. One of the bass looked like it got slammed by a pike. Also saw what must have been the same trout jump clear out of the water 3 times in the same spot. I would have loved to have hung out there all afternoon since I was getting nailed every other cast and knew there were bass, trout, carp and probably at least one pike, but we just didn't have the time. Only April though and that spot will be golden until mid-June. Nothing beats the South Branch in my opinion.

thats awesome to hear! what part did you fish?(it's ok if you dont want to say- i get it). nothing like a nice canoe outing. the canal is also starting to pop. My friend has gotten two so far after fishing only twice. and by fishing i mean, seeing the canal on his lunch break, pulling over and taking 10 or 20 casts. one was 3.5 lbs the other just over 2. so it looks like it's they ready to start loading up before the spawn.

With the price of everything going through the roof and the terrible saltwater regs this seems to me the way to go. back to the basics....a small boat....unfished waters and a fun day out. Nice report!
