Default Friday fluke

Been awhile since I posted, but here's a report...
Got out yesterday started off near Keansburg after hearing reports that it was "on fire". Not a sniff. Moved east and fished between Romer and the West Bank light, had plenty of shorts, then saved the day late with 2 nice fish. Dropped another keeper at the boat. All fish caught between 18 and 30 feet of water, jigs and fish were coming up ice cold. Most were caught on a live killies, but they seemed to like pink Gulp! too. The gulp tails were getting shredded by some pesky little shits on the mussel beds, maybe baby sea bass?

When it comes to bay fishing ,still nothing better for fluke than a big live Killie.. I have had days when really small Sea Robins were maddening, tearing everything to shreds.. Those or as you stated, little sea bass, or even small Bergalls on Mussel beds.....

Great to hear from you. Seems like your report is similar to many others!

Nice report Jeff!!!

Gotta agree with Jigman. Area has absolutely been flooded with spot and croaker for weeks now.

I thought spot and croaker had a preference for warmer water temperatures. If the ocean and bay are ice cold, wonder why they'd be up here in such numbers?

Good question I can’t answer. That answer is way above my pay grade.
