Default Mahi in Barnegate Bay

Yep, whole Mahi, knew nobody would believe me so I took a photo this morning. Would like to see the marina's security video of when they decide to beach themselves at the ramp.

Thats just crazy.. Only thing I can think of is they were maybe not iced down, or properly cared for in some way, and they just ditched them at the ramp because they stunk or something like that..... In any case, some really disgraceful, disgusting, wasteful and just plain stupid behavior... You would think someone with a trailer boat thats big and fast enough to go Mahi fishing, plus the skill required to find and catch them in good numbers, would have more common sense, and a little more respect for the resource than was shown.. such a waste.... bob

This is it, esp. considering how dirty the inshore water has been. What a disgrace.

Those appear to be all the same size chicken mahi. Not unusual to come across a large school and bail them. 10 per person limit in NJ, someone probably came in over their limit, maybe F&G was at the ramp or they got spooked and they were dumped. Too bad there's no footage, they should be fined $1k per fish. If someone traveled far enough to catch them, have to assume they had sufficient ice. There's sportsman and there's *******s, whoever ditched them aren't sportsman and one way or another we all pay the price.

I'd hate to be the guy who forgot to put the drain plug in the fish box, might take awhile to live that one down, kinda like when I forget to shut off the raw water intake only to find everything I stored in the livewell floating around, who knows what really happened. I just went to net some peanuts for tomorrow and 2 different passersby gave me an ear full. In a public Marina/Park setting, leaves a bad impression of our sport.

It’s just as likely that a big cooler with all the fish was put on the gunnel before hopping down to the trailer and it went overboard. It’s hard to imagine that someone was trying to avoid getting caught by dumping the fish at the ramp.

No one other than the person / people responsible know what happened but a cooler falling over at the launch would just require a net or gaff to retrieve them in water that shallow. Whatever the reason, sad to see fish of any nature killed and let go to waste. Why would anyone discard fish at a ramp? If they're not on their boat and not seen tossing them overboard if a CO was in the vicinity, they can't be fined. All they'd need to say is someone else must have dumped them.

"Hey, did you grab the cooler off the boat"

"No, I thought you did!"
