Default Fluking 6/24

Sorry for the late report, was away for a while and getting caught up.

The slot worked in our favor this day. 4 of us were out fishing the sticky stuff ocean side and had 6 slots, 3 overs and a ton of shorts that were just shy.

When we first got to the grounds we had a lot of bites and it completely died around noon. I think if we had been out a little earlier we would have easily filled our limit of slots and overs. Having said this, it would be great if the slot was a little broader at say 16 - 17.99. If that were the case we would have filled our slot limit easily.

We used bucktails tipped with gulp and a gulp teaser, no meat and we had a lot of fish hit the bucktail. Not the norm for us as most times the fish hit the teaser, not the bucktail. I wonder why that is? Pink shine gulp seemed to be the color of choice although other colors worked too..

Speaking of gulp, been seeing a lot of people reporting the Sand Eel gulps are working well so going to give them a shot next time. I also think they'd be killer in the fall fished on a light jig head when the Stripers are gorging on the them...

Nice report Gerry. Good to see your catching. The ocean is the place to fish now for bigger fish. I use Gulp sand eel a lot on the teaser with good results. Tight lines!

Thumbs up Re: Fluking 6/24

Thanks Gerry - looking to get some younger kids out soon for a fun trip. They are not ready for offshore yet.

The problem with the Gulp! sand eels are they look and work great but tear very easily. You need 3 packs per person on a good day.
