Save your money my friend, anything the cruise line is offering is BS! That's how they make their money. Read into the fluff and how they promo it...all Bullshit.....Cruised for 18 straight years, not once has anyone come back from one of these scams and bragged about what a great trip they had. Remember, you are a tourist with $$, that's all you are.

Default Re: Cruise ship excursion

I have been on several cruises and each time I looked into booking a fishing excursion through the cruise line. Each time I came to the conclusion after doing some research that they are all basically a 4 hour boat ride. Thus I declined in booking a trip.

That being said, on my last cruise I did book a fishing trip on my own for when the ship docked in Belize for the day. Exchanged several emails with the owner/captain prior to the cruise leaving the States. We agreed on a rate, he gave me directions on where the boat was docked (every close to where the cruise ship passengers come ashore). Target species was snook and although we (my son & I) didn’t catch any snook we each caught a dozen or so Jack Crevalles. It was a long day of fishing and by the time we stopped fishing and made it back to the dock we had less than 15 minutes to catch the last shuttle boat back to the ship. Luckily we made the last shuttle, i of we hadn’t it would have been up to me to pay for transportation to the next port of call because I did an independent excursion. When you book an excursion through the ships and you miss the ship, the cruise line is responsible for getting you back to the ship/next port of call. Boy did my wife let me have it.

Anyway, if/when I go on my next cruise I don’t think I’ll book a fishing trip either with the cruise ship or on my own. The only way I’d book a trip on my own again is if the ship is in port for at least 48 hours-as when they do this there are shuttle boats offered on an hourly basis 24 hours a day.

What do you do with your catch ?? Chances are the ship's chefs won't cook it or someone else in the kitchen get the meat. Just thinking.

I have brought a breakdown rod onto the cruise ship and released the fish I caught. It's always good to bend a rod.........
