Default ASMFC Interview about Striper Slot Emer Reg Change

George Scocca, NYAngler, interviews Emilie Franke. He presses her about poor Cheaspeake stock and their 'Trophy' exemption but she didn't take the bait...https://www.buzzsprout.com/252409/12...uly-2-2023.mp3

Thanks for posting this Larry…

So let’s allow the Chesapeake to continue to target and harvest large fish during the spawning season in those spawning areas and their stocks are the reason for the decline….

My guess is they got that provision approved by the council before hand in exchange for agreeing to a yes vote on the emergency measures. Once those states fell in line they had the super majority they needed.

As was mentioned by the host in the Pod Cast, I doubt NJ will decide to go out of compliance given the repercussions. That I believe is due in part to the the current political climate in both our state and on a federal level. I think we feel we’d not get the support needed as this escalated up the chain and would eventually result in getting shut down for going out of compliance.

Also interesting to note how the host of the show from NY was envious of how we in NJ fight for our recreational fishing rights.
