First cast fish 🎣

Went fishing at Manasquan Inlet this evening on a cold, sunny day with a strong west wind and outgoing tide during a small craft advisory and last quarter moon . Got the first parking spot near the jetty. Caught, tagged and released a windowpane flounder on my first cast of the day with my friend Jack’s homemade bucktail teaser in the surf. Just before I switched lures, I caught, tagged and released another sundial on an Ava A-17. Hickory shad were chasing glass minnows. Hooked one but it threw the hook, then escaped. Caught, tagged and released a 24” striped bass on a yellow Bomber in the inlet at night just before I quit. That was the 9,200th striped bass that I caught in NJ since 1985.
