Default Surprising Catch

Hit a local spot, part of the Rahway river targeting carp. Homemade carp bait...flour, cornmeal, water, pinch of sugar. Didn't catch carp, but I did catch 2 rainbows. I thought they would die in this slower, dirty water. July 8th, part of the rahway river. Gut hooked, I had to keep them...for the dog. Added a couple of pictures of bass I caught earlier in the year (during the spawning period). Same area. TD

I caught one in the upper north branch raritan July 1st, then last weekend saw about 4 swimming around in the lower lower north branch along with 1 that looked like it was on it's last fin and 2 already belly up.

I think some just find a way to live but it's not at all in their favor

Every year I see things like that that amaze me ! Last year I caught a rainbow in the s.b. of the Robinson which is a tributary of the Rahway in late July . It was still full of piss and vinegar when I released it. Thanks for the report.

Thumbs up Re: Surprising Catch

They find a way to survive. I am not surprised as I’ve seen this quite a few times growing up fishing the Rahway river. Lots of interesting things happen in n the wild. Great catch!!!
