Default Highlands Fluke Tournament This Saturday

Any suggestions on getting out of the wind tomorrow for the fluke tournament. It will be hard out of the NW. Also has anyone had success back up the river towards Red Bank?

Strong NW is a tough forecast for sure... Not sure what the fishing is like in the rivers right now since the water temps have warmed up but with the forecast it's certainly going to be the most comfortable place to fish.

A lot of boats have been fishing inside Sandy Hook bay but that area is going to be tough with a strong N or NW wind. It will be especially evil in that area on the outgoing with wind against so you might be better off fishing the incoming there first thing in the AM to slack high which is around noon. After that you could try the Raritan bay and with some W in the wind on the outgoing it might be fishable but you're going to have a really fast drift.

You could also scoot over to NY side and try to get some land buffering you from the N winds but that is likely going to be a messy ride there and back.
The ocean side of Sandy Hook tight into the beach might be a good spot if the wind has more W than N in it but here again it will be a sloppy ride to get there and back and I would avoid making that ride during the incoming.

Good luck and be safe.

That sounds like a good idea - scoot over to Staten Island side after the tide turns and then come back with wind at our back.
