1/27 Ocean Explorer Jumbo Blackfish!
A nice day out on the the water today with our own Islander II and Sven Of the Hook on the Ocean Explorer... We took a fairly long ride out to the deep and Islander II ( Kevin) was rewarded with the the pool fish and new seasonal leader weighing in @ 14 lbs and change.
Kinda funny since Capt Bobby yelled from the wheel house, get ready boys this is the land of the Jumbos people, JUMBOS! Sure enough Kevin's jig barley hit the bottom and WHACK!! I looked over after he set the hook, he was nonchalant about it but I could tell how hard he was reeling against the fish and this was a indeed a Jumbo and made a gesture to the mate, he's got a big fish on... As usual the OE crew was right there whenever you needed them and when it was slow they'd work the crowd... Everyone OK here, anyone need anything? Once again I have to say, we're really spoiled here in NJ with the best boats and crews in the business. Tip of the cap to the OE crew for making what otherwise been a dull day at home behind my desk into another lifetime memory for me and my boys! Congrats Kevin, you're on a roll brother!

The crew kept her in a tote on the boat with water running into to until it could be officially weighed. They tried to release her but she wasn’t up for it. This fish was caught in 130 feet of water so hard to bring them back when coming up from those depths.
