![]() Hit the Canal Saturday, October 30th. Solid action once I walked away from the crowd and found my own rocky hole to fish. Short action was awesome and then I got slammed by a biggun! This fish wouldn’t come up on the St. Croix Mojo Bass rod. I had to crank the drag all the way down on the Penn Battle 2 to get her up to the fence only for the fish to take one more dive and straighten my Trout hook and popping off. HEART BREAKING!!! Bottom of the 9th with a crab and a half left I cast back to the same spot and crack another good one. This time I get the fish up quick and lift a 16 inch keeper up over the fence. It’s a keeper but it doesn’t make up for the loss of a Canal biggun that was lost. It just subdues the pain for a little while. Took the 16 incher home and turned it into Scampi, LOL!
![]() Tuesday, November 2nd, got word on a hot Striper bite in some NJ backwater and gave it a go. Didn’t hook anything and didn’t see anyone catching. Got a little frustrated and started casting my plug like a madman until I finally got smoked. Ok, here we go! First fish comes in, healthy Striper, 30 inches plus easily. This goes on for a solid 90 minutes and it’s a fish every cast as there busting on top right at sundown. Cast to the same spot every time, hook a fish every cast. All keepers and all between 30-37ish inches. Holy hell! I’m stoked. Solid after work session after a shit day of work! Let’s goooooo! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Today, November 6th! Headed south after the kids playoff game in Woodbridge. We smoked a team from Fords 9-1. Championship tomorrow! Get to the spot and it’s game on right away on my Lear favorite tide with no slack tide in my future. First Tog is a solid 14 and then smaller from there so I start to move around. Finally I find some super snaggy stuff that seems delicious. I retie my leader and hooks and drop down, whack, 16 incher caught and released! Drop down again in the same hole, crunch, crunch, crunch, WHACK! Hey now, another 16 incher! Hmmmm, well this is getting interesting! Drop down again and there’s a bit of a lull as the waters getting lower and lower and the seaweed is getting terrible. Move down 5 feet and make another drop! Here we go, Big Crunch and run, set the hook, got em! Can’t get the damn fish out so run down current and pull the fish out of the snag somehow. Another keeper over 16 inches closer 17! At this point I’m so stoked I don’t even care about the Greenies I had left. I dumped them into the water and said thank you to the Tog fishing Gods for a stellar short session on the water. Awesome afternoon, crazy fishing, beautiful weather! TIGHT LINEZ!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
