![]() With the tourneys going on and the weekend crowds coming on I decided to try something a little different.
Headed over to just inside Bug Light and set the hook. Not a boat in sight early, except guys heading outside, overcast skies on the outgoing. Casted snapper poppers with bug eye teasers towards the beach. Number of fluke that hit in 2-3 fow was unreal. Short city but fun as all hell on light tackle. Was literally throwing popper onto the sand and dragging back into the water. Fluke hits were almost like top water striper hits!!! Gotta do this again with a fly rod. By noon the traffic built and the sun came out and it was party over. Surface temps up to 77, more bunker pods than I’ve seen all season. Water nice and clean in close.

![]() Nice report.
I did something on Wednesday that I hadn’t done in many, many years. I fished the beach just west of them point of he Hook on Wednesday. Parked in lot M & made the 20 minute trek. Fished a single jig with a GULP 6” jerk shad. Fished 2 hours with just one bite. The others 3 anglers combined for 1 short fluke. A lot of small bait right in the wash. Saying all this was because the only fluke I saw were those that were busting on the small bait in the wash literally a few feet from me. They were all short fluke (@12-14”s). Couldn’t get any of them to bite though. |
