![]() Happy mfr’s day to you mfr’s. Hit Spruce Run for my second try today. The cicadas we’re doing their thing and the wind was landing a good number of them in the water. There were fish up and eating the buzzing buggers. I launched my paddle board at the kayak ramp and paddled into the wind. There were some nice calm spots where I could cast my fly rod poppers, but no love.
Fish were up eating the cicadas. I hooked one on my popper but it didn’t come tight. These were nice fish, 2 or 3 pounders, forked tails. I thought maybe trout but I’m thinking maybe channel cats. Anybody else there today? |

![]() I caught several 5 to 7 lb channel cats this season at spruce on top waters. Never had that before. Also, there's THICK weed beds growing in Spruce. I never once saw this in the areas I frequent. Curious if boats are bringing it in from elsewhere or if it has something to do with all the lawn fertilizer people use, washing down into the reservoir.

![]() Nature has a way of taking care of its own, most if not all fish species are feeding heavily on the cicadas , the birds in my yard are going nuts on them! Don't forget the Mulberries if you carp fish!
