Default Fall season sea bass suggestions

Looking for thoughts on depths or general areas to find a good population of “keeper sized” sea bass in the fall season. I’m not referring to winter deep water offshore fishing. I’m referring to maybe November time frame. I’m usually focused on blackfishing in the fall and never really had any luck finding any quality sea bass in the fall. I’ve always done decent with sea bass in the spring but not in the fall. Tried 17 fathoms for a bit yesterday based on a report from a friend but didn’t have any luck except for dogfish lol. Gave up after a bit and anchored for tog in 75’ and did well but only 1 sea bass. Any suggestions on depths or general areas to try would be great. Thanks in advance.

Your too late. Your best bet would be shark river reef, but even that is mostly just porgies right now. Most of the biomass is in like the lilian, resor, cow and such 30 mile spots.

They are in the 30-50 mile wrecks. Went on a NS charter yesterday and did well. 80% of our keeper sea bass were 4-5.5#. Legit size. Might have even been a bit bigger. Oddly, none had the deep blue on their head/hump. The porgies we got, and were a lot (felt bad for the fillet crew) were jurassic sized.

Season is running a bit behind this year. It’s more like mid oct fishing so it has them scattered and you need to really find non traditional pieces that haven’t been wiped out. Even 49 miles out surface temps were above 60. We were going to try Resor yesterday but two head boats were there so we passed.

Btw for the Ghost hunters, about 10 miles from point pleasant inlet we passed a school of giant bft breaking water. Ran into the fog moving west to east around 3:30pm and was dense and really kicked up the seas which was odd. Luckily we were on a tank of a 42’ boat.

Thanks guys for the input. I kind of figured that. I was going to try the shark River reef but just didn’t get a chance to get down earlier plus the weather has been shitty as we all know.
