![]() Fishing the lamington this evening, doing well. Water is clear.
Near the end of the day, the water becomes stained and debris such as clumps of weeds and branches start flowing down. Mind this is before any storms move in from the south. Below screenshot shows the USGS Gage for the south branch of the rockaway creek, which is one of the outflows of RV. I included data from July 11th, where we had nearly 3 inches of rain in comparison. _ ![]() I was aware of RV discharges, but never saw it this badly in person. It also raises the question why they are releasing water right before the state is about to get hit by 4-6 inches of rain? RV is already low too, so unexpected to see a release. http://www.njwsa.org/uploads/1/0/8/0/108064771/data.pdf ![]() Anyone know of a hotline or a way to see their scheduled releases? It's not much of a problem really, but very unexpected and im curious ![]() Btw the smbs were hitting weightless worms on slack line. some hitting as soon as it hit the water. lost count of all the ~9 fun sized bass. ![]() |

![]() They release water ahead of big storms to reduce the peak discharge and still keep the water level at or below what's desired/safe when the storm hits

![]() so RV itself can get impacted by the storm? I saw it's at 60% capacity and didnt think even a lot of rain will come into affect RV. RV doesnt have a lot of water coming in from natural drainage I thought. Or am I mistaken? I figured making the streams higher now would make it unsafe, as now the streams will receive loads of rain ontop of already high flows from the RV discharge.

![]() I assume they are trying to keep a certain level while continuing repairs. Was that you with the tan vest, fishing along the road? Jack
