Default 5/24-5/25 Fluking.....

Flew a couple solo missions Sun and Mon.
Sun - NFG. Worked shallows around the Hook and picked 6 shorts managing 1 keeper right at the 18” mark. Real dirty water in spots. Outgoing better than In. Chartreuse seemed better than other colors. Water temps 58-59. Fish spitting up grass shrimp.
Mon- little better but nothing to write home about. Stayed on the flats around the Keansburg Canyon and picked. Dozen shorts and again 1 lone keeper just hitting the mark. Water noticeably cleaner. Again 58-59 deg. Grass shrimp puked up again. White color of choice today.
Water on Sun dirtiest I've ever seen it. Literally rust colored and a weird film on the surface.
Boat fire in the Reach on Mon. About a mile north of me. From what I heard on the radio everyone pulled safely out of the water. Coast guard and staties on the scene.
To those who served and are serving, thank you. Happy Memorial Day

Jason and I fished a back bay party boat today. Fishing was very slow in the back and middle bay regions and as you said the water was very brown with algae. Once we got east of Chapel Hill, the water quality became noticeably improved and we started catching. Albeit mostly shorts, Jason did get 2 keepers out 5 (only 1 other keeper on the boat) & I got 4 shorts.

Might be an algae bloom from the lack of a real winter . A lot more dead bunker than what we usually see. Hope it all improves .
