Default Passaic 12/28

Spur of the moment trip with my son today. The spot we wanted to fish was inaccessible and we were driving to try out below the dam. We decided to drive along the river heading towards home and looked for spots to try. My son spotted one and we stopped. First cast with a green Weedless senko brought this beauty. Probably 6-7lbs. My son and I did not expect it! Nothing else, we spent an hour trying. Some guys were fishing worms near us but didn’t get anything.

Sweet catch for the 1st cast!! Never know what'll be on your line in that stretch! I was out there 3 days ago and got a few stripers, pike, & 2 bonus carp off some homemade bait. Stripers seem pretty active lately.
Well done.

So, with good numbers of school-sized stripers in the Passaic and Hackensack River systems, is there any research information about the migration patterns of these fish? I have to assume that some of them eventually make it to Newark Bay, Arthur Kill, and Raritan Bay. Is there any info on whether they join the Hudson River migration or do they just hang around in the NY Bight all year? I may post this on the saltwater board for more input.

Nice local Striper man! That’s where they live!
