![]() May just have to a float trip ! Really not seeing much in Raleigh-Durham area at this point. My guide from New York turned me onto a guide down here:
https://www.thecatawbaangler.com/ Check out those Browns in the fishing report section ! The Cherokee Indian Reserve has a hatchery and limits are a liberal 10 fish per day on the reservation area, I have to read more. There is a ton of fishing just to my North in Virginia as well as West of me into Tennessee. Since they don't experience winter here they fish strait through till spring. Seems like limits for trout on other rivers in 7 fish. There is a local group affiliated with TU, https://triangleflyfishers.org/ they also do a lot of outings. Big run of Sea Trout down the shore right now (aka Weakfish) and everyone is loading up ! If all goes well I can close on the house in November and maybe squeak in a few fishing days up there too. Itchin' to get out soon ! ![]() |

![]() As I mentioned in a reply to your first post about your move to N.C. , the Cherokee trout fishing is worth the ride to western N.C. Yes, they raise their own fish and the trout respond readily to light tackle. You'll have to get reacquainted with small stream fishing. Those mountain streams are more like the upper Raritan branches than the lower stretches that you are most familiar with.

![]() Yes, the small streams out there looked packed with trout ! I was hoping to get on a float trip, may be on one of the larger rivers. Maybe I can do like I used to do when I went up to NY, float one day and hike-fish the smaller streams the other day during a 2 day trip. Looks like the place to stay overnite is at one of the casinos
