Default Riviera Maya in April

Heading to Hard Rock in Riviera Maya in mid-April and am hoping to find some sailfish or dolphin. First time there and apparently, it's a quick run to the dropoff. Any charter recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Hey bud. Went on vacation there 4 years ago in May. Tried booking an open boat since only me and my wife went and she doesn’t fish. Almost impossible to find a boat that would take just me out without going broke but actually found a guy. I cannot remember the name of the boat. His name is Walter. His number at the time was 011 52 1 984 117 2362. I believe his boat was in playa del Carmen. I took a taxi there. He charged me $280. I had 2 mates and a captain. 28ft Topaz. The mates were awesome and I caught some bull mahi and barracuda. I must say it was pretty rough the week I was there. I hope this number works and you can get in touch with him. That’s all I got

Mike

I did a couple of things when staying in that area.

Went down to Playa Adventuras, Captain Ricks, and took a sportfishing boat out. Most were singles/doubles doing open boats (I believe they had at least 5 boats) Thing was stripped down to the bones and not a comfortable ride. All the tourist boats trolled one area. A bit expensive and you have a travel down a bit, which I think was a 30 min tax ride.

I also took a 1/2 day penga boat (about 1/2 the price of a sport-fishing boat) right from my beach at the resort. You will get soaked. We trolled around inshore and found some bull mahi. Later on when the fishing slowed down he dropped us on a reef to snorkel a bit and then took us back with some fresh mango. I would do that again if I had the opportunity.
