Default A weekend in massachusetts re-cap

Back in NJ from my trip up north and i can honestly say it is worth the trip up there! Awesome fishing.

Day 1

EPIC day on the a NS out of Hyannis, Massachusetts! To say today was good fishing is a understatement! We slayed em today! When the first fish i bring up is pushing 6 pounds i knew i was in for a awesome day. Boat Limit+++++++++++!!! Dad and I were both limited out by 845am! Silly fishing! We were on em all day. I was close to a triple limit! We were swinging New Jersey size pool winners. Dad had 2 fish over 6# and Craig had a monster 5# seabass! We limited out on Fluke for whole boat so we went and filled the rest of the cooler full of big seabass! Lifting 23in fluke like it was nothing. This was my first trip to Massachusetts for fluke and now i know why people make the ride! Gotta say thank you to Craig Zincavage for setting the trip up! No DD for me but i still have tomorrow to make it happen! Trophy hunting! Also want to say thank you to some of you guys that helped me get set up for fishing up here. You know who you are. Fished with 10oz most of the day. Went to 12oz for a little. When we lost the current i broke out the light set up with a 2oz and was a ton of fun. Almost drop and reel. It was just a awesome day. Everyone limiting and fish coming over the rail non-stop. Got tomorrow to hook into the DD! Got a feeling its gonna happen! It was all about the pink shine for me today. They couldnt resist it! Had bait on few times but i got a couple dogs so i just went with staright gulp. Didnt seem to matter to much bc they were chewing!! Looking forward to tomorrow.

Day 2

Late report. Fished all day and drove the whole way home so i was beat and passed out. So Day 2 of fishing up there was another awesome day. We left a little before 6am and made the steam out to the grounds. Again it was good fishing. Not as fast and furious as Saturday but still fish coming over the rail all day. The real big girls didnt want to chew but we still filled the cooler with all nice size fluke. I was limited again by 930am and went into c&r for rest of the day looking for that DD! After we limited the boat with fluke we kinda lost the drift so we went a filled the other cooler with some big old knuckle heads! Another boat limit now of seabass. Had like 4 double headers. 2 keeper fluke, 2 monster seabass, a keeper fluke and a porgy, and then got another with a big porgy and big seabass. Was kinda funny. Now fishing wise the current was moving pretty good so we started out fishing with 16oz and went down from there. Once that tide slowed way down i broke out the ultra light with a 2oz jig and had a blast. Also i had the most epic dogfish battle of my life. This thing was huge! Hit my jig then proceeded to peel drag like i hooked a tuna! Finally got it to the surface and it was the biggest dogfish i have ever caught. So we got em off the line and i casted back out and started jigging again and bam i get slammed. And again it starts peeling drag and running all over. Finally got to see what it was and to my surprise it was like a 6# id say bluefish! Haha. Was a lot of fun on the light tackle. All in all it was a great day. I had over a double limit and my limit of seabass. Dad had the same. Again today we were lifting 20in plus fish all afternoon. Got a little rain but wasnt bad at all. Then it turned into a really nice day on the water weather wise. Have to say thank you to Capt Pat and Billy! You guys had us on the meat for 2 days straight. We even put a date in for next year to do it again! I had a great time fishing with everyone. Lots of laughs! Thank you to Craig for setting the trip up!
