Default Saltwater Road Trip Recommendations?

I’m looking for a few nice salty road trips on a head boat or charter. Perfect trip would be under 10 hours away and under $200, but I’m open to ideas. I’ve done a few in NC like the Miss Hatteras and enjoyed that. North or south of NJ both work. Anyone have any good experiences or ideas? Thanks.

Head north and get a boat out of RI or Mass. ESPECIALLY FOR TUNA. The ride is much shorter, fishing much better, and a lot cheaper. When you factor in a 5-7 hour ride to the grounds in NJ vs. 1-2 hours up there, all in all you are gone from home about the same amount of time, if not less! I've begin limiting my tuna fishing here for the last few years. When captains talk about 10-12 back to back trips during the heat of the season with only a few fish at best for each trip, that has to tell you something.

Just read the fine print in the contract regarding keeping the fish caught. Lots of boats in Mass keep the tuna.

Recently took a trip up to Montauk and fished the Miss Montauk. Worth every minute of the drive! Great boat, great crew and great fishing!

Agreed on both, but the drive to Montauk on a weekend is one of the worst traffic jams you will ever be in. It is quicker, although farther, to go to Rhode Island. You will be fishing the same area around Block Island
.

Ahhhh. The secret, go in the middle of the night/early morning. I used to make it regularly from ringwood bh to Montauk in just under three hours.
